Thank you all for making it happen!

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”small” position=”left” up=”20″ down=”20″][vc_column_text]Dear Friends and Business Colleagues,

We did it already twice and very successfully: first Finland Pakistan Business Summit in 2014, followed by the second one in 2015. This year we took a bigger bite because we wanted to take the whole Nordic region with the best companies to Pakistan!

Yes, we did have plenty of challenges just before the event, everything from the news about the unfortunate and sad Lahore attack spreading through the Nordic region just couple of weeks before the Summit, paired up with almost surprisingly big amount of very last minute surprises, cancellations and changes in peoples agendas.

Despite all of that we did it. With representatives of over 30 companies from the Nordic region and totally over 150 companies joined us for two days. And best of all, also with very good results and concrete new contracts – let us use this testimonial we got from one Finnish company next day: “I had 8 real customer meetings, I got 3 serious business partners, I got one hand shake deal. It is not so bad for one Summit.” It is definitely not bad for one Summit! Furthermore, if everything goes as planned we will witness concrete deals made for over 25 million Euros just based on talks and negotiations started during the Summit days![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” padding_top=”87″ css_animation=””][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”16853″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]We are happy and we think participated companies were also happy. At least we have received tens of emails from the delegates asking what is happening next. We can tell you that: first we shall host the NPBS in the Nordic region with the NPBS Helsinki Edition on 19-20 January 2017 and then for concrete follow-ups between the participating companies the show will be back in Pakistan for the NPBS 2017 on 25-26 April, 2017! More to come so please keep following the “News” -section for details!

Again, after a successful big event it is time to thank everyone who really made it possible. Let’s start with Pakistan. We want to thank Prime Minister’s Office and Foreign Ministry of Pakistan for their continuous support. Special thanks go to Mr. Tariq Fatemi, Prime Minister’s Special Advisors of Foreign Affairs: without his endless support for Pakistan-Nordic relations we would not have been where we are. Thank you also Engr. Khurram Dastgir KhanMinister of Trade and Commerce for your time and effort to inaugurate the event. We want to thank Mr. Rafiuzzaman Siddigui, Additional Secretary for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and especially big thanks go to our great platinum sponsor Packages Ltd for their support.  We also want to thank all the companies who joined us for the event in Islamabad.

NPBS requires some dynamic and active people also outside Pakistan. Let’s start from Rome; Mr. Nadeem Riyaz, Ambassador of Pakistan to Italy in Rome, for his remote support on various questions and ideas. In Stockholm we express our biggest appreciation for all the help and support to Mr. Tariq Zameer, Ambassador of Pakistan to Sweden and Finland and Mr. Najeeb Durrani, Minister at the Embassy in Stockholm who made everything so smooth for the Nordic delegation and also joined us to promote Pakistan in Sweden very efficiently. And not to forget Ms. Vaida Cirtautaite, Commercial Coordinator at the Stockholm Embassy. In Norway we want to thank Mrs. Riffad MasoodAmbassador of Pakistan to Norway and Mr. Raja Nasir HussainHonorary Investment Consul of BOI in Oslo who helped to get  the Norwegian companies to hear about the business opportunities in Pakistan. In Finland we want to thank Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Employment and The Economy  for their support to host pre-Summit events in Finland showing Finnish companies the Pakistan we all know is certainly open for business.

The Summit is not a seminar or conference, it is a platform enabling business; Nordic and Pakistan business people, entrepreneurs, company owners, directors, managers and representatives of any supporting organizations to meet personally for growing business and new opportunities. That has always been the core idea behind the Summit, supporting companies to do business.

And the Summit works. Let us share one example from Finland: in the last couple of years, during the Era of our Summits, Finland’s export to Pakistan actually tripled and increased by 78 % in 2015. All that when overall exports of Finland were down by 4 % ! And all after the unfortunate closing of the Finland’s Embassy in Islamabad. After the two events done so far we don’t need to explain anymore: business happens when business want to it happen and that’s why Summit is there!

And this is a 2-way street: showing Nordic companies the huge opportunities Pakistani market offers for them but also show the potential of the Nordic and Baltic i.e. the New Nordic market to Pakistani companies. Pakistan has so many companies, big corporations and SMEs, which has basically never even browsed the opportunities in the Nordic market i.e. Sweden, Finland, Norway, Denmark or Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania. So while we are encouraging the Nordic industries and businesses to research and browse the opportunities in the Pakistani market with open minds and eyes, we would definitely encourage the Pakistani companies to do the same in the New Nordics.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” angled_section=”no” text_align=”left” background_image_as_pattern=”without_pattern” css_animation=””][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”16849″ img_size=”full” qode_css_animation=””][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]And we certainly keep going: please keep following the “News” section, our Facebook pageTwitter or Linkedin for more details. Speaking about media: last year our PR was challenged by the visit of China’s President, this year we came to the city during the endless news around Panama leaks and internal politics. So, two years with challenging times to get anything published around the Summit and that requires professional PR team to handle issues. And that is exactly what Mr. Sarfraz Ahmed, General Manager (Islamabad office) of APR, Asiatic Public Relations did for us again so thank you APR team! And if you want to read how Summit was treated in the Pakistani media please click here for print and here for some TV clips.

And one more: we want to thank the whole staff of Marriott Islamabadyou all made it so smooth and pleasant again: Mr. Hartmut Noack, GM of Marriott for such a great hospitality, Mr. Haroon Abbasi & whole team for professional banquet arrangements, Mr. Muhammad Faisal & whole team for all reservations and guest arrangements. There would be so many names to be mentioned but thank you all;  everyone from reception to housekeeping, from executive lounge staff and restaurant managers to waiters and waitresses in every restaurant, from laundry to banquets staff, security, bell captains to drivers  – you all were part of this story once again – thank you, you did it by the Marriott way again!

Hope to see you all soon again in Helsinki on January 2017!

Best regards,

NPBS – Nordic Pakistan Business Summit 2016 Organizing Team,

Mr. Wille Eerola, Mr. Hassan Raza, Mr. Matti Naakka
